Autumn 2020: Hong Kong Healthy Eats with Ashley Tang

Sat 26 Sep, 2020

Life has changed a lot since our last edition, especially for the dining and fitness scene which has been ravaged by COVID quarantine and social distancing rules.

We don't take anything for granted and we are so grateful for the support of our community. In turn, we do our best to support local businesses - knowing that every little bit helps.

Read on for our season faves for healthy eating in Hong Kong, curated by our lovely barre babe, Ashley Tang.

Big love from Amsterdam!

JOMO Kitchen + JOMO Coffee & Cakes

Standing for 'Joy Of Missing Out', JOMO has two bright locations in Tsuen Kwan O and Sai Yin Pun. Their largest location in TKO serves an all-day menu with some vegetarian and plant-based options. Dishes such as the black truffle cream sauce pasta are a treat, but there are cleaner choices in the mix such as their sourdough toasts as well as their pink and green smoothie filled with ton of fruits and veggies. The SYP location has a brunch-inspired menu and specializes in vegan baking. Don't miss their freshly baked cakes and other vegan pastries!

Infiniti C

Besides hitting up eco-friendly grocery store Slowood in Kennedy Town, be sure to check out Infiniti C which is right around the corner. This cafe caters to keto, gluten-free, and vegan diets with a seasonal lunch menu offering a range of soups, salads, breakfast bowls, and more. They do not have a menu online but be sure to check their Instagram page out for what the kitchen is serving. One of their signatures is the Keto Cauliflower Steak which looks delicious! Try one of their nut milk lattes with a slice of home-made cake. It hits the spot for afternoon tea!

Aaharn

For an upscale lunch or dinner, I recommend trying Aaharn in Tai Kwun. The famed, Michelin one-star Thai restaurant sets a quiet ambience for their innovative, seasonal vegetarian menu which includes some of the signatures that have stayed on the menu since opening. I am blown away with their creations, and one of my favorites is the Betel leaf with ginger, peanuts, toasted coconut and lime. It is simple with an explosion of flavors that pile onto your palette in layers. Their set menu consists of curries, rice, and noodle dishes paired with organically sourced wines as you indulge throughout the evening.

Treehouse

A popular choice within our team and community of barre babes, we often turn to this OG cafe for a quick plant-based, vegan, or vegetarian meal. From salads, to those scrumptious burgers, wraps, and smoothie, we love all the options they have! I love making a custom salad with their falafel, or having a burger adding extras like the haloumi egg, and avocado.
