I couldn’t help but break out into a huge smile as I walked off the plane and entered Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv, Israel three weeks ago. My other love besides barre is dance, and I have been pursuing a career as a contemporary dancer for the past few years and dancing since the age of four. Last year, this brought me to dancing in Israel for ten months, training with the fantastic Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in northern Israel. I had the most mentally and physically transformative experience of my life living in a kibbutz, training intensively from morning till night every day, and living simply with a fraction of my possessions, surrounded by nature and free to confront myself and my practice deeply. I made some of my best friends, who came to attend this program from all over the world, and felt the most inspired and invigorated I have ever felt. read more
