1) What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy about the BarreAmped method?

I moved to Hong Kong in the summer of 2017 and as a way to get to know the city and meet new people, I was making my way around the various fitness studios when I came across Barre 2 Barre.  During my intro offer, I attended a class every day and was quickly hooked.  My first class was with Ali and I struggled to get out of bed the next day! I quickly became addicted to the shake, I loved how quickly my strength developed and I was drawn to the community feel of the studio so when the opportunity for teacher training arose, I was nervous but equally inspired and excited to spread my love for Barre far and wide.

In terms of the BarreAmped method, I really enjoy the fact that even after a year of practising, it doesn't get easier.  You just work deeper and can always find a way to push yourself.

2) What are your favorite exercises to teach during class, and if you had to choose two areas to focus on, what would they be?

Thigh work for sure, I love seeing students shake.  In terms of focus points, always prioritise form and alignment over depth of movement, find your own challenge point and don't forget to breathe! (sorry, that's three areas!)  I'm also really enjoying incorporating band sculpt into classes and can't wait to start teaching Barre + Sculpt classes in November.

3) Any major indulgences?

I don't know if it's an indulgence as such but I spend a small fortune on books each month!  I'm constantly downloading books to my Kindle and at a rate much faster than I can possibly read.

4) How has wellness changed your lifestyle?

The short answer is it has brought to me a sense of mindfulness; for example I'm a lot more mindful about listening to my own body inside and outside of the studio, mindful about how I structure my days to be sure to make time for my own practice and mindful in getting a good night's sleep.  By joining the B2B teaching team I also get to work with wonderful colleagues and teach a group of really lovely students.

5) Favorite song to stretch to at the end of class?  Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine.
